There is a proposed new property tax to help pay for preserving the Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse which was declared ‘threatened’ under the Endangered Species Act in May 1998, and its habitat. This was designed to help save the mouse while protecting private property rights. Randy Case is quoted as saying,”The absolute underlying goal is to shorten and simplify the brain damage.”
